A run along the wall rather than a climb up it. A horizontal pale pine rail, 40cm long, carries four sisal-rope-wrapped rungs that step down from left to right across a depth of 20.5cm. The sisal gives a cat grip underfoot on every rung, and doubles as a surface worth scratching on the way past. Fit it where a cat already travels and it becomes the route they take.

Fitting and weight guidance
- In the box: the piece, mounting screws and a fitting diagram. Wall plugs for your wall type are not included.
- Solid walls (brick or block): drill 6mm, fit standard wall plugs, drive the included screws through every hole in the wall plate.
- Plasterboard: screw into a timber stud wherever you can (use a stud finder). Where there is no stud behind the fixing, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more per fixing, such as metal self-drill or toggle anchors.
- Weight: designed for adult domestic cats, typically 3 to 6kg. For cats over 7kg, or for any piece a cat will land on from a jump, fix into a stud or masonry rather than plasterboard alone.
- Use a spirit level, and check every fixing is tight before the first climb.
Will it fit?
- Your wall: check the width along the wall and how far the piece sticks out (under Specifications) against the clear space you have.
- Spacing: about 30cm between steps suits most adult cats; go closer for kittens and older cats.
- Wall type: 6mm plugs for brick or block, a stud or heavy-duty anchors for plasterboard.
- Your cat: designed for adult cats of 3 to 6kg; over 7kg, fix into a stud or masonry.

A route across the room
The four rungs descend left to right, so the cat travels along the wall instead of hauling straight up it. Over 40cm they take four easy steps with sisal under every paw.
A quiet horizontal line
A 40cm pine rail reads as a shelf rail rather than pet equipment, and natural sisal keeps the palette warm. A Castle Catalogue piece for linking wall furniture without cluttering the wall.
Sisal that works twice
Each of the four rungs is wrapped in natural sisal rope, which gives grip on the step and takes claws on the way past. The pale pine rail carries the whole run at 20.5cm deep.

Made to live with, not just look at.
Every piece in the Castle Catalogue range is chosen for how it behaves in a real room. Honest materials, quiet colour and shapes that still work when the seasons change.
We keep the range tight on purpose, so you are choosing between a few good options rather than scrolling through thousands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much wall space do these steps need?
The rail is 40cm long and the run of rungs covers 20.5cm of depth as it descends. That makes it a compact way to bridge between two higher pieces.
What are the rungs made from?
Each rung is wrapped in natural sisal rope, carried on a horizontal rail in pale pine. The sisal is the surface your cat stands on.
How does it fix to the wall, and what weight will it take?
It mounts to the wall with the included screws through the holes in the wall plate. Into brick or block, use standard wall plugs. Into plasterboard, screw into a stud where you can, or use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more. It is designed for adult cats of around 3 to 6kg; for a heavier cat, fix into a stud or masonry.
Will my cat scratch the rungs?
Very likely, and that is the point. Sisal is the surface cats prefer to scratch, so the rungs take claws instead of your sofa arm while still working as steps.
How do I keep the sisal in good order?
Vacuum the rungs occasionally to clear loose fibres and hair, and wipe the pine rail with a barely damp cloth. Nothing more is needed in normal use.
