A scratching post that takes up no floor at all. The column stands 37.5cm tall and 9cm across, wrapped tightly in natural cream sisal rope from top to bottom. A small solid pale pine bracket block holds it at the top and a pale pine foot plate steadies it at the bottom, 50.5cm in total including the brackets. It suits a flat or a small room where a normal-height stretch matters more than floor space.

Fitting and weight guidance
  • In the box: the piece, mounting screws and a fitting diagram. Wall plugs for your wall type are not included.
  • Solid walls (brick or block): drill 6mm, fit standard wall plugs, drive the included screws through every hole in the wall plate.
  • Plasterboard: screw into a timber stud wherever you can (use a stud finder). Where there is no stud behind the fixing, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more per fixing, such as metal self-drill or toggle anchors.
  • Weight: designed for adult domestic cats, typically 3 to 6kg. For cats over 7kg, or for any piece a cat will land on from a jump, fix into a stud or masonry rather than plasterboard alone.
  • Use a spirit level, and check every fixing is tight before the first climb.
Will it fit?
  • Your wall: check the width along the wall and how far the piece sticks out (under Specifications) against the clear space you have.
  • Spacing: about 30cm between steps suits most adult cats; go closer for kittens and older cats.
  • Wall type: 6mm plugs for brick or block, a stud or heavy-duty anchors for plasterboard.
  • Your cat: designed for adult cats of 3 to 6kg; over 7kg, fix into a stud or masonry.

Cat Wall Scratching Post 37cm - in use

The stretch, without the floor space

Your cat reaches up the column and pulls down through 37.5cm of tightly wrapped sisal. It is a normal-height stretch, set wherever you choose to fix it on the wall.

Cat Wall Scratching Post 37cm - in the home

Made for flats and small rooms

Nothing stands on the floor, so a hallway or the corner of a small living room stays clear. Natural cream sisal and pale pine keep it quiet against a plain wall, a Castle Catalogue answer to tight spaces.

Cat Wall Scratching Post 37cm - material detail

Sisal along the column, pine at both ends

The rope is wound tight along the full 9cm column, so there is no slack to work loose. A small solid pale pine bracket block takes it at the top and a pale pine foot plate closes it at the bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions

How tall is the post?

The sisal column is 37.5cm tall, and 50.5cm overall once the pine brackets are counted. That gives most adult cats a normal-height stretch.

What is the scratching surface?

Natural cream sisal rope, wound tightly around a column 9cm in diameter. Sisal is the surface cats genuinely prefer, which is what keeps them off the sofa.

How does it fix to the wall, and what weight will it take?

It mounts to the wall with the included screws through the holes in the wall plate. Into brick or block, use standard wall plugs. Into plasterboard, screw into a stud where you can, or use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more. It is designed for adult cats of around 3 to 6kg; for a heavier cat, fix into a stud or masonry.

Does it use any floor space?

None at all. Both ends fix to the wall, so the floor underneath stays clear for cleaning and for furniture.

How do I keep it looking good?

Brush loose fibres off the sisal and vacuum around it now and then. Wipe the pale pine with a barely damp cloth and dry it off.
