Specifications
  • Material: Solid pale pine brackets, natural sisal rope column
  • Size: 75cm total height, 9cm column diameter
  • Fixed at top bracket and foot plate
  • Finish: smooth-sanded natural pine, no sharp edges
  • Care: wipe the pine with a barely damp cloth; brush or vacuum the sisal
Fitting and weight guidance
  • In the box: the piece, mounting screws and a fitting diagram. Wall plugs for your wall type are not included.
  • Solid walls (brick or block): drill 6mm, fit standard wall plugs, drive the included screws through every hole in the wall plate.
  • Plasterboard: screw into a timber stud wherever you can (use a stud finder). Where there is no stud behind the fixing, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more per fixing, such as metal self-drill or toggle anchors.
  • Weight: designed for adult domestic cats, typically 3 to 6kg. For cats over 7kg, or for any piece a cat will land on from a jump, fix into a stud or masonry rather than plasterboard alone.
  • Use a spirit level, and check every fixing is tight before the first climb.
Will it fit?
  • Your wall: check the width along the wall and how far the piece sticks out (under Specifications) against the clear space you have.
  • Spacing: about 30cm between steps suits most adult cats; go closer for kittens and older cats.
  • Wall type: 6mm plugs for brick or block, a stud or heavy-duty anchors for plasterboard.
  • Your cat: designed for adult cats of 3 to 6kg; over 7kg, fix into a stud or masonry.

Tabby cat stretching up to scratch a 65cm wall mounted sisal scratching post

A complete stretch, top to claw

A large adult cat can reach up the full 65cm and pull down without running out of post. That full extension is the part shorter scratchers miss.

Cat Wall Scratching Post 65cm - in the home

Height without a footprint

The whole piece lives on the wall, so 65cm of post costs you no floor at all. Natural sisal and pale pine keep it calm in a modern British room, which is how Castle Catalogue likes its pet furniture to look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it tall enough for a large cat?

Yes. The sisal column is 65cm, enough for a large adult cat to extend completely, and 75cm overall with the pine brackets included.

What is the column wrapped in?

Natural sisal rope, wound tightly in two stacked sections around a 9cm column. A slim pale pine collar band sits at the joint mid-way.

How does it fix to the wall, and what weight will it take?

It mounts to the wall with the included screws through the holes in the wall plate. Into brick or block, use standard wall plugs. Into plasterboard, screw into a stud where you can, or use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more. It is designed for adult cats of around 3 to 6kg; for a heavier cat, fix into a stud or masonry.

Why choose this over the 37cm post?

Choose 65cm when you want a full stretch for a large adult cat. The shorter post suits a normal-height stretch in a tighter space.

How do I care for the sisal?

Brush away loose fibres and vacuum around the post from time to time. The pale pine wipes clean with a barely damp cloth.
