A cat shelf that reads as architecture rather than pet furniture. The board is pale pine, 40cm wide and 25cm deep, cut flat and rectangular with softly rounded corners. Two slim L-shaped brackets in matte black powder-coated steel carry it from underneath, so the pine appears to float against the wall. It is the simplest piece in the range and the easiest to live with.

Fitting and weight guidance
- In the box: the piece, mounting screws and a fitting diagram. Wall plugs for your wall type are not included.
- Solid walls (brick or block): drill 6mm, fit standard wall plugs, drive the included screws through every hole in the wall plate.
- Plasterboard: screw into a timber stud wherever you can (use a stud finder). Where there is no stud behind the fixing, use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more per fixing, such as metal self-drill or toggle anchors.
- Weight: designed for adult domestic cats, typically 3 to 6kg. For cats over 7kg, or for any piece a cat will land on from a jump, fix into a stud or masonry rather than plasterboard alone.
- Use a spirit level, and check every fixing is tight before the first climb.
Will it fit?
- Your wall: check the width along the wall and how far the piece sticks out (under Specifications) against the clear space you have.
- Spacing: about 30cm between steps suits most adult cats; go closer for kittens and older cats.
- Wall type: 6mm plugs for brick or block, a stud or heavy-duty anchors for plasterboard.
- Your cat: designed for adult cats of 3 to 6kg; over 7kg, fix into a stud or masonry.

A perch at the height they want
Cats choose height. At 40cm wide and 25cm deep the board gives an adult cat room to sit, turn and stretch out above the traffic of the room.
Reads as a normal floating shelf
Pale pine and matte black steel are a familiar modern pairing, so the shelf sits happily beside your existing wall fittings. A Castle Catalogue piece that only looks like pet furniture once the cat is on it.
Two brackets, nothing wasted
The L-shaped brackets are powder-coated steel, slim enough to disappear under the board. The pine is left pale and the corners softly rounded, so there is no hard edge at cat height.

Made to live with, not just look at.
Every piece in the Castle Catalogue range is chosen for how it behaves in a real room. Honest materials, quiet colour and shapes that still work when the seasons change.
We keep the range tight on purpose, so you are choosing between a few good options rather than scrolling through thousands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How big is the shelf?
The board is 40cm wide and 25cm deep, enough for an adult cat to sit or lie along it. The flat rectangular shape means the whole surface is usable.
What is it made from?
A pale pine board on two L-shaped brackets in matte black powder-coated steel. The pine is left in its natural pale tone rather than stained dark.
How does it fix to the wall, and what weight will it take?
It mounts to the wall with the included screws through the holes in the wall plate. Into brick or block, use standard wall plugs. Into plasterboard, screw into a stud where you can, or use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to 15kg or more. It is designed for adult cats of around 3 to 6kg; for a heavier cat, fix into a stud or masonry.
Will my cat use a plain shelf?
Cats take to a clear flat surface at height very readily, because it lets them watch a room from a safe spot. Fitting it where your cat already likes to sit helps it get used from day one.
How do I keep it clean?
Wipe the pine with a barely damp cloth and dry it off. The powder-coated brackets can be wiped the same way, and nothing else is needed.
